While working as a contractor, the founder of Mabeplastik was asked to create a shade structure for a deck where seasonal light truly mattered. The homeowner wanted cooling shade in the summer, warming sunlight in the winter, and dependable protection from the rain.

It was a reasonable request — yet it revealed a clear gap in the market. A pergola with adjustable, pivoting louvers could deliver all three benefits in one elegant system. But at the time, no such solution existed.
